Aşık Devai's Life and Art Became a Book

Aşık Devai visited Ökkeş Saatçı, the owner of Elbistan Kaynarca Newspaper, and shared the joy of transforming his life and art into a book.

Mersin University (MEU) Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Head of Turkish Language and Literature Department Assoc. Dr. Nilgün Çıblak Coşkun collected Devai's poems in a single book.

Noting that being the subject of the research conducted by Assoc. Dr. Nilgün Çıblak Coşkun was a proud development for him, Aşık Devai said that he faced with a work that covered his own life, art and poems for the first time.

Devai stated that the work excited him and allowed him to travel to the past, and continued his speech as follows; “While chatting with Ms. Nilgün and answering her questions, I sometimes felt sad and sometimes shed tears of happiness. I almost relived my poems. I had the opportunity to reconsider my art and my understanding of art. I hope that with this book, I will undertake an important mission in conveying the tradition of minstrelsy and the poetry of minstrel to future generations.”
