ABDURRAHİM KARAKOÇ (1932-2012)

   He was born in Elbistan. He studied here first. Although he did not study later, he continued to read and write. He worked as an accountant in the Municipality of Elbistan. He retired from here. He settled in Ankara. He was a daily columnist for a daily newspaper.

   Karakoç is the honor of our Maraş. His poems are all about the social issues and wounds of the society. He is exceptionally successful in poetry. Numerous studies have been done on him. Many of his poems have also been composed.

ADİL ERDEM BAYAZIT (1939-2008)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He attended Istanbul Faculty of Law for a while. He was the general secretary of the Maraş Education and Charity Association in İstanbul. He contributed to the publication of Edik magazine, the media organ of the association. Due to financial impossibilities, he had his registration transferred to Ankara Law Faculty after a while. After returning from the military, he left his law education and enrolled in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Ankara Faculty of Language, History and Geography.
He graduated from here. He worked as a literature teacher and library director.

   His first poem was published in the newspaper Demokrasiye Hizmet in Maraş. In the same newspaper, besides his poems, his black and white drawings were also published. He contributed to Hamle magazine with his group of friends. While he was the secretary of the Gençlik newspaper in 1959, he started to publish the newspaper İnkılâp together with Cahit Zarifoğlu in 1960.

   He is one of the leading names of the Büyük Doğu and Diriliş School. He contributed to Nuri Pakdil's Edebiyat magazine. In 1976, he published Mavera magazine with a group of friends. He worked as the general secretary during the establishment of the Istanbul Turkish Music State Conservatory. Later, he served as the vice president of the Ministry of Industry, Manpower Training Department. In July 1981, he went to Afghanistan, which was fighting for independence against Russia on behalf of Agency 1400, and published his travel notes. This work received the Journalism Award of the Turkish Writers' Union in 1983.

   His second poetry book "Risaleler" also received the Poetry Award of the Turkish Writers' Union in 1988. He became a deputy of Kahramanmaraş in the 1987 parliamentary elections. He passed away on July 5, 2008.

A. HANİFİ AKAR (1963)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1963. He completed his primary and secondary education in this city. He graduated from Sivas Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He is a literature teacher at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam High School.

   He started poetry on the art literature page of a local newspaper. His poems were published in newspapers and magazines such as Kızılırmak, Sayha, İkindi Yazıları, Kadın ve Aile, İnsan Saati, Muştu, Sütçü İmam, Uzunoluk, and Edik.

AHMET TEVFİK PAKSU (1926-2017)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1926. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. He graduated from İstanbul High School of Economics and Finance. He entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly in the 1966 elections as the senator of Kahramanmaraş. He was elected as a Deputy from Kahramanmaraş and served as the Minister of Labor for a while. He was married and had four children.

   He collected his works in “Şiirlerim” (Fetih Yayınevi, İstanbul 1973).

AHMET DOĞAN İLBEY (1954)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Open Education Faculty Social Sciences Associate Degree. He served as an officer.

   He was among the founders of Dolunay and Gülbang magazines. He worked at the Kahramanmaraş Branch of the Turkish Writers' Union. His writings were published in culture, art and literature magazines such as Dolunay, Gülbang, Alkış, Dört Mevsim Maraş.

His published work: Bir Hüzünkârın Tahrir Defteri (2000).

ALAEDDİN ÖZDENÖREN (1940-2003)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. His twin is Rasim Özdenören. Based on a dream of his mother, Nezahat Hanım, he was named Alaeddin in memory of Alaüddevle Bey. Due to his father's civil service, he resided in Tunceli and Malatya. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. During his student years, he edited art and literature pages in local newspapers.

   At the age of 15, he attempted to write a novel. His first poems were published in the journal Hamle, the publication organ of Maraş High School Culture Branch. He had a belligerent temperament. When Maraş High School gave him the certificate, he went to Istanbul to finish high school. After graduating from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Philosophy, he returned to Maraş as a teacher.

   His writing life that started in local newspapers, continued in İstiklal, Diriliş ve Edebiyat magazines. In 1976, Mavera magazine, of which he was one of the founders, was published and he began to write there. He was a columnist for Yeni Devir and Milli Gazete.

   His first book, Güneş Donanması, was published by the Edebiyat dergisi publishing house. He received the poetry award of the Turkish Writers' Union with his second book of poetry, Yalnızlık Gide Gide (1996). He died on June 23, 2003 in Balıkesir, where he settled after retirement.

ALİ AKBAŞ (1942)

   He was born in the village of Maraba in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary school in Elbistan and high school in Maraş. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He served as teacher and manager. He worked in TRT.

His works are as follows: Masal Çağı (1983), Kuş Sofrası (1991), Gökte Ay Portakaldır (1992).

ALİ BÜYÜKÇAPAR (1968)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Maraş. He graduated from Konya Selçuk University, Faculty of Theology. He has a master's degree in Philosophy of Religion. He worked as a teacher. He published his poems and essays in various newspapers and magazines. He published the monthly art and literature newspaper "Milcan".

His works are as follows: Malabâbi (Şiir, 1996) Kitap Pusulası (1997), Kırk Hadis (1998), İsm-i A’zam (Esmaülhüsna 1999), Necip Fazıl (2003), Ulu Kapı Sırlı Yol (Destan Şiirler 2006) Hafız Osman Sandal (2007).

ALİ KARAÇALI (1960)

   He was born in the village of Gafarlı in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary school in his village and his secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Gazi Education Faculty, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He served as a teacher.

   He started his writing career during his high school years. His articles and stories were published in the Edebiyat magazine. He was among the founders of Hece magazine.

His works are as follows: Kamçı (1982), Maraşlı Âşık Behlül Ali (2008).

ALİ KEMAL NACAROĞLU (1950)

   He was born in the village of Yenicekale in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Business Administration, Technical Vocational School. He served as an officer.

   He directed Gonca magazine during his student years at İmam Hatip High School and Çağa Kıyam magazine during his higher education years. His poems and stories have been published in various magazines.

His only work is Alaz (1978).

ALİ SAİM EMİRMAHMUDOĞLU( 1914-2000)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1914. He completed his primary education in Kahramanmaraş and his secondary education in Adana Male Teachers' School. After teaching for 16 years, he started journalism. He continued the newspaper Hizmet, which was published in Kahramanmaraş, under the name of Demokrasiye Hizmet. Later, the newspapers Engizek and Demokratiye Hizmet, which were published separately, were closed. Memleket newspaper was published instead of these two newspapers. This work continued for 8 years. He turned from journalism to civil service. He worked as Kahramanmaraş Provincial Public Library Director for one year. He started teaching at Kurtuluş Primary School again. While he was the Director of Serintepe Primary School, he was appointed to the Directorate of Dumlupınar Primary School. He retired while working at this school.

   He passed away on December 17, 2000.

   He worked as a correspondent for Tasvir, Son Posta and Milliyet newspapers. He made original studies on Karacaoğlan and Ashab-ı Kehf. He wrote poems. Unfortunately, he was unable to collect them into a book. Some of his works remained where they were published.

ARİF BİLGİN (1951)

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Elbistan. He graduated from Mersin Teachers' School and Anadolu University Open Education Faculty. He served as a teacher.

   He has published his works in magazines such as Mavera, Dolunay, Gül Çocuk, İkindi Yazıları, Doğuş, Gündönümü, and İkinci Fecir. He took part in the editorial board of Şardağ magazine.

   He also wrote the interior writings of Kızılcaoba Yeni Mosque and Ümmet Baba Mosque by doing calligraphy works. In addition to poetry, fairy tales, stories and essays, he also has a research aspect.

ARİF EREN (1939)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. He studied at Gümüşhane Teachers' School. He graduated from the Education Institute, Department of Literature. He became a teacher. He has taught in many different places. He retired in 1997.

   He wrote for many magazines.

His poetry works are as follows: Bu Kent Sende Kalsın (1965), Yurt Tesbihi (1975), Hayatı Huzura Ayarlamak (1985), Görkemli Denge (1996), Zaman Yerinde Durmaz (2006).

ÂTIF BEDİR (1965)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. His real name is Abdurrahman Başpınar. He graduated from the Faculty of Language, History and Geography. He wrote for various magazines and newspapers.

   He collected his poems in “Ateş Salâları” (1998).

AVNİ DOĞAN (1951)

   He was born in Güblüce village of Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Elbistan. He studied at Mersin Teachers' School He graduated from Anadolu University Education Associate Degree. He taught in various places. He has retired. He was a Member of Parliament.

   His poems have been published in various magazines. He received the Turkish Writers' Union award in 1999.

   His works are as follows: “Ortadoğu Çocukları” (1986), “Gelirdim İnce Sessizliklerle” (1991), Ehrenfeld Akşamları” (1993), “Bir Gökyüzüdür Yürek” (1996), “Bu Sevda Benim Değil” (1998).

BAHAETTİN KARAKOÇ (1930-2018)

   He was born in the Ekinözü district of Kahramanmaraş. He was a member of a family full of poets. He attended primary school in Ekinözü. He graduated from Ankara Hasanoğlan Village Institute. He worked as a health officer.

   He started to write poetry at a young age. He received awards for poetry. He published Dolunay Art and Literature Magazine. He founded Dolunay Yayınları. He did everything to get the poem back on its feet. He created a new school. He put in great effort. He is the pride of our Kahramanmaraş in modern poetry.

   He received the Turkish Writers' Union award in 1983, the first prize in the Diyanet Foundation's Münacat competition in 1991, and the Kazakhstan "Great Abay" award in 1993.

BAHTİYAR ASLAN (1971)

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Fırat University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He started to work as a Research Assistant in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Muğla University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

   He has published his work in various newspapers and magazines. He published magazine. He won degrees.

He has a poetry book titled "Su.

BÜNYAMİN KÜÇÜKKÜRTÜL (1970)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Uludağ University Education Faculty Painting Department. He worked as a teacher. He made abstract paintings with watercolor and mixed techniques. He opened exhibitions. He also wrote poetry, essays and stories. He published the magazine İnsan Saati with his friends. He used the pen name Bünyamin K. in his poems.

   His works are as follows: Yanımdaki (1992), Dağ Hazırlığı (1996), Hiçbir Baloda Yokum (2002), Bak Anne Geliyor Bir Kara Tren (2008).

CAFER KEKLİKÇİ (1977)

He was born on December 18, 1977 in Karadere District of Kahramanmaraş. He is the fourth child of Ahmet Bey, known as Hoca Ahmet, and Emiş Hanım. He completed his primary school in Karadere Harmancık Primary School (1992), secondary school in Elmacık Secondary School (1995), and high school in Kahramanmaraş Industrial Vocational High School Electrical Department (1998). He graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Public Administration (2014). He lives in İstanbul. He worked as an editor at a publishing house (2002), and as a library clerk at a college (2003–2004). He has been a columnist for Milli Gazete since 2009.

The first poem of Cafer Keklikçi, who started to write poetry in primary school, was published in Gülistan magazine in 1996. Later, his poems were published in magazines such as Dergâh, Kırklar, Kaşgar, Kökler, Öteki–Siz, Edebiyat ve Eleştiri, Le Poete Travaille, Yitik Düşler, Okuntu, Derkenar, Yedi İklim, İkindi Yağmuru, Az Edebiyat, Merdivenşiir, Hece, Türk Edebiyatı, Mühür, Papirüs, İtibar, Kuşak Edebiyat, Karabatak and Muhit; his critical essays on poetry were published in Dergâh, Kırklar, İkindi Yağmuru and Yeni Şafak Kitap.

The poet also worked on short stories.

Cafer Keklikçi has defended Social Realist Poetry on which he based his poetic ideas.

He received the 2011 Zemçi Çetinkaya Poetry Award with his book, Tahammül Şeridi.

CAHİT ZARİFOĞLU (1940-1987)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. Due to his father's civil service, he completed his primary and secondary education in various cities. After graduating from the Department of German Language and Literature at Istanbul University, he went to some European countries for a while to improve his language skills. He worked as a teacher, translator, Translation Secretary of TRT General Directorate and Auditor at İstanbul Radio.
He started writing during his high school years. He edited art and literature pages in local newspapers in Maraş. Together with Erdem Bayazıt, he published a local newspaper called "İnkılâp". He published the one-issue Açı magazine. He was known for his poems, stories and daily articles in Diriliş, Edebiyat and Mavera magazines, of which he was one of the founders. He worked as a columnist in national newspapers under pseudonyms. In his last years, he turned to children's literature. He was selected as the author of the year by the Turkish Writers' Union in 1984 with his work "Yürekdede İle Padişah".
   He wrote works in many branches of literature. He passed away on June 7, 1987.

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in the district he was born in. He graduated from İstanbul Atatürk Education Institute. He started teaching. He taught in different places. He retired from teaching.
   He has published his works in various newspapers and magazines.
   He won degrees in many competitions he participated in. He was named teacher of the year. He wrote in every genre.

CEMAL NAR (1955)

   He was born in the village of Hartlap in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in Maraş. He attended high school in Diyarbakir İmam Hatip High School. He graduated from Kayseri Higher Islamic Institute in 1977.
   He took private lessons in Arabic and Islamic sciences in Kahramanmaraş. For many years, he has provided education and training in Imam Hatip High School and provided guidance and notification services in different places. He retired in 2003.
   His articles have been published in various magazines and newspapers. He established his own website called www.cemalnar.com.

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. After completing his primary and secondary education in Maraş, he completed his higher education in the Department of Mathematics of the Isparta Education Institute. He worked as a teacher and administrator in various schools. He was the President of Tebessüm Education, Culture and Environment Association and the owner of Tebessüm Magazine.
   His poems and articles have been published in various magazines and newspapers.

   His works are as follows: İlimiz Kahramanmaraş (1986), Baharın Koynunda Zindan (1989), Meslek Matematiği (1991), Kahramanlık Şiirleri (1995), Şiirlerle Öğretmen (1997), Hoca Ahmet Yesevi (1999).

COŞKUN ÇOKYİĞİT (1959)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1959. He attended the Faculty of Letters at I.U. He studied History and Turkish Literature. He graduated in 1987. He started working as a journalist during his student years. In 1983, he published Dağarcık magazine together with a professional newspaper. He worked as a reporter, editor and manager in Tercüman newspaper since 1985. He is still working in Türkiye newspaper. He is married and has two children.
   He wrote poems in Doğuş Edebiyat, Türk Edebiyatı, Türkiye Günlüğü magazines, and articles in Tercüman and Türkiye newspapers.
   He collected his poems in his work titled “Gitmesen Olmaz mı?” (1996).

CUMA TAHİROĞLU (1952)

   He was born in Çobanbeyli town of Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in Afşin and high school in Maraş. He graduated from Ankara ADMMYO in 1978 as a civil engineer. He has been involved in social and political activities since his student years. He worked at the Ministry of Labor and the Middle East Public Administration Institute. He started to work in the State Hydraulic Works in 1987. He became the Deputy Mayor of Kahramanmaraş in 1999. He retired from DSİ in 2005.
   He published a journal on behalf of the Teknik Elemanlar Association.
His poems and articles were published in various newspapers and magazines.

   He was born in the village of Hacıeyuplu in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology. He became a teacher. He worked as an administrator. He wrote in various magazines. He used the pseudonym Ömer Erinç in his poems.
   He published the magazines Dost and Dört Mevsim Düşünce on behalf of the schools he worked for.

DURMUŞ ALİ EKER (1937)

   He was born in Ekinözü in 1937. He is the son of Durdu Mehmet Eker and Raziye Hanım.
   He completed his primary school in Ekinözü, secondary school in Elbistan and high school in Kahramanmaraş. He dropped out of his education that he started at the Faculty of Law.
   He worked as a teacher. He graduated from the Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. He was the Director of the Department of Economic Affairs. He served as Head of Department, Deputy General Manager and General Manager in the Ministry of Labor. He served as the Founding Council Member of the Industrial Dispatch and Management Institute and the General President of MESDER.
   His works are as follows: Poetry: Toprak Sırrımı Bildi, 1995. Su ve Hayal, Ankara 1999. Novel: Yukardaki Çukurlar, 1999.

EJDER OKUMUŞ (1967)

   He was born in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş. After his primary and secondary education, he studied at Erzurum Atatürk and Konya Selçuk University Theology faculties. He worked as a teacher. After completing his master's and doctorate degrees, he became a research assistant at Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Theology in 1994. He became an associate professor in 2002.
   His articles have been published in various journals. He translated books.

ERTUĞRUL KARAKOÇ (1936-2015)

   He was born in the Ekinözü district of Kahramanmaraş. He attended primary school in Ekinözü and secondary school in Elbistan. He graduated from Gaziantep Teachers' School. He graduated from Balıkesir Necatibey Education Institute. He worked as a teacher, administrator and inspector.
   He started to write at a young age. He wrote in many different publications.
   His works are as follows: İlk (1956), Kan Ağrısı (1966), Altay Türküsü (1966), Yurt Güzellemesi ve Turnama Ağıt Yakamam.

FATİH OKUMUŞ (1968)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in the place where he was born and his secondary education in Kayseri Develi İmam Hatip High School. He completed his higher education in Azhar in Egypt. He completed his master's degree at Sütçü İmam University. He worked as a research assistant. He works as a lecturer in the field of "Islam in Europe" at the Faculty of Theology in Amsterdam.
   He is known with his work “Sevgili Kasîdesi” (1992).

FETHULLAH BADEM (1982)

   He was born in 1982 in the central Dereboğazı village of Kahramanmaraş. He is the son of housewife Lütfiye Hanım and construction master Ali Badem.
   He graduated from Dereboğazı Village Primary School (1993), Kahramanmaraş İmam Hatip High School (1999), and Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics, Public Administration Departments. He undertook the duties of Kahramanmaraş representative and correspondent of Vakit newspaper. He worked as the Business Manager of Fatih Cultural Center (Kahramanmaraş). He worked as a program producer and presenter, reporter at Yunus TV, and as an advertisement counselor at Selam TV. He still works at Tuana Ajans Printing, Tourism company.
   He used the pseudonym Mirzaoğlu in his poems. He has been interested in music. He has released two music albums.

HACI ALİ ÖZTURAN (1947-2020)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Chemistry. He worked at Afşin-Elbistan Power Plant and DSİ. He retired in 2007.
   He has published his writings in Küçük Dergi, Doğuş, Türk Edebiyatı, Milli Kültür, Dolunay and Alkış magazines and local newspapers since 1981. He has done many local works such as Maraş Dialect, Köroğlu examination and Maraş Food, Maraş Children's Games.
   His works are as follows: Kahramanmaraş’ın Kurtuluş Öyküleri (2009).

HASAN EJDERHA (1962)

   He was born in Karadere village of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from the Open Education Faculty. He served as a civil servant. He worked in different institutions.
   He collected his poems in the book titled “Seni Yaşamadan Olmaz” (1993).

HAŞİM KALENDER (1963)

   He was born on August 1, 1963 in the Kurtuluş Neighborhood of Dağlıca District of Afşin. He is the son of Hüsne Hanım and farmer Ahmet Kalender. He graduated from Tanır Primary School, Tanır Secondary School, and Afşin Industrial Vocational High School, Department of Electricity (1983).
   He worked as an electrician in the American company Foster Wheeler, which was involved in the construction of Afşin/Elbistan power plant (1983-86). He enlisted in the military in June 1986. He completed his military service in İzmir/Gaziemir.
   Currently, he works as an electrician in the business service at Afşin/Elbistan (A) Power Plant E.Ü.A.Ş.
   He won First Prize (1982) with his poem "Dostluk Kardeşlik" in the "Friendship Brotherhood" poetry contest between high schools in Kahramanmaraş, Honorable Mention (2004) with his poem "Nursun Muhammed Nursun" in the poetry contest organized by Kahramanmaraş Necip Fazıl Cultural Association for the Happy Birthday week, the Certificate of Honor (2005) with his poem "Öğretmen" in the poetry contest organized by the Istanbul Poets and Writers Association, and the second prize in the poetry competition held in Afşin with his poem Vatan ve Bayrak (2005).

HAYRULLAH SAFA (1976)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1976. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Karamanlı Primary School, attended but dropped out İmam-Hatip High School, and graduated from Industrial Vocational High School. He graduated from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Department of Archology. He did a short-term military service in İzmir. He worked at various times and in various places.
   His first poem, "Yorgunluk Marşı" was published in the journal Yalnızardıç. He published Re magazine (single issue) in 1995. He wrote poems and stories in the magazines İnsan Saati, Yalnızardıç, Kırklar, Le Poete Travaille. He has been publishing the magazine Kuyudaki Koro.

HİLMİ ŞAHBALLI (1953)

   He was born in 1953 in Sarılar village of Türkoğlu district. After primary and secondary school, he attended high school. He graduated from high school. His saz master is Mahmut Coşkuner, his poetry master is Hayati Vasfi Taşyürek, and his apprentice is Uğur Geylani. He stayed in Germany for a long time. He took music education. He lived in Ankara for a while. He made a program for TGRT with the name "Ozanların Dilinden". He conducted the "Türküler Pınarı" program on Kanal 6 (Altı).
Şahballı, residing in Istanbul, is married and has five children.
   Şahballı has different features. Due to his long stay abroad, he knows three languages ​​and is interested in Divan Literature. Şahballi, who played in six feature films, recorded 63 records and 26 cassettes. He sings 530 works (folk songs). He has written 1050 poems.
   His well-known works are as follows: Yürüyorum, Yoruldum, Kızılırmak, Al Beni, Dokunmayın, Çok Fenayım, Esmerin Adı Oya, Bundan İyiydi.

HÜSEYİN BURAK US (1977)

   He was born in the central town of Karadere, Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary, secondary and higher education in Kahramanmaraş.
   His works are as follows: “Bir Çocuk Tutar Ellerimden” (1997) and “Antoloji” (1997)

HÜSEYİN KÜÇÜKKÜRTÜL (1967)

  He was born in Kayseri/Bünyan in 1967 due to the family's residence in Bünyan. He is the son of Kerzibânu Hanım and poet Alaaddin Küçükkürtül. He is the brother of Ali Küçükkürtül and the older brother of Bünyamin Küçükkürtül.
   He graduated from Karamanlı Primary School (1979), İmam Hatip High School (1986), and Burdur Education Higher School (1989).
   He worked as a mold maker, glass maker (1987-89), imam by proxy (five months, 1989-90), sugar beet weigher, classroom teacher (1990). He completed his military service as a "military teacher" (1992-93).
   He works as a classroom teacher in a school affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
   He published his works in Marmara newspaper, İnsan Saati and Sühan magazines. He used the pseudonym Türabi in his poems, and the pen-names Salih Duru and Ahmet Turap Başyüce in his prose.
   He received the short story competition award of Yeni Ufuk magazine.

İBRAHİM SARI (1953-1999)

   He was born in the village of Gafarlı in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary school in his village and high school at İmam Hatip High School in Maraş. He worked as a civil servant in the Ministry of Trade and Industry. While working as the secretary of Diyarbakır Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, he was kidnapped by terrorists and killed in 1999.
   His first writing was published in the school magazine Gonca during his high school years. He wrote for newspapers and magazines such as Milli Gazete, Edebiyat, Mavera and Kayıtlar. He also used the pseudonym İbrahim Gaffarlı. He prepared cultural programs for local TVs.
   His works are as follows: Çalkantı (1992), Şehrimiz Diyarbakır (1996).

İBRAHİM ZARİFOĞLU (1957)

   He is from the Zarifoğlu family from Kahramanmaraş. He was born in Fatih, İstanbul. Due to his father's duty, he continued his primary and secondary education in five different cities.
He completed his higher education at Istanbul Sports Academy and Education Institute. He started his career as a civil servant in 1976. He worked as a teacher in various schools and as an administrator at İSKİ. His poems have been published in various magazines.
   His works are as follows: Bir Demet Alev, Kendimi Beklerken, Mirac-i Duruş, Güneşi Beklerken ve Mor Kayıkta Bekleyenler.

İNCİ OKUMUŞ (1971)

   She was born in Kahramanmaraş. Although she won the Faculty of Agriculture after her primary and secondary education, she did not attend this university and carried on with poetry. She received training on Quality Management Systems and Project Management Mentoring.
   Her poems have been published in culture, art and literature magazines such as Gençliğin Sesi, Dolunay, Seviye, Milli Kültür, Yeni Ufuk, Güneysu, Sandal, Ayna, Kırk Başak, Genç Kardelen, Külliye, Tebessüm and Harman. She was a columnist for various local newspapers. She was among the organizers of the Dolunay Poetry Festival.
   She collected her poems in the book titled Düğün Gönüle Kurulur (1999).

İSMAİL KILLIOĞLU (1947)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. After primary and secondary education, he graduated from the A.U. Faculty of Law. While working as a Labor Inspector in the Ministry of Labor, he became a faculty member in 1978. He taught history of philosophy at the Faculty of Theology at Marmara University.
   While he was a student at Maraş İmam Hatip High School, he started his writing career with poetry and story and decided on the story. His first works were published in Gonca magazine and Memleket Newspaper. He wrote in magazines and newspapers such as Hareket, Çıkış, Diriliş, Edebiyat, Gelişme, Kalem, Mavera, Yönelişler, İslâm, İlim ve Sanat, Kadın ve Aile, Türk Edebiyatı, Altınoluk, Yeni Devir, and Milli Gazete. His story called Kesit became a TV movie.
His works are as follows: Ateş Yalımı Üstünde Bir Toplantı (1974), Hayata Uyanış (1984), Düşünce ve Duyarlık (1986), Edebiyat ve Suç (1988), Ahlak-Hukuk İlişkisi (1988), Düşünce ve Özgürlük (1992), Gül ve Ateş (1993), Aşkın İzi (1999).

KADİR TANIR (1953-2011)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Yıldız University, Department of Architecture. He started his career as a civil servant in Kahramanmaraş Municipality. He served in administrative staff such as the Directorate of Zoning, Assistant Director, and the Directorate of Parks and Gardens. Later, he continued his duty as an architect in Kahramanmaraş Provincial Directorate of Rural Services. He retired in 1998. He still works as a freelance architect and contractor.
   He has continued his writing career, which he started at the age of thirteen with poems and stories he wrote for school newspapers and then continued with Edik magazine, more intensely since the years he graduated from university.
   In 1976, his stories began to be published in Mavera magazine. He published his first book, Alagün, in 1982.
   He started his writing career, which he took a break for almost ten years, since 2002, intensively. Since then, he has written in culture and literature magazines such as Yedi İklim, Alkış, Kaşgar. He won the 2008 novel award of the Turkish Writers' Union with his novel "Sonsuz Uzun Ölüm".
   His works are as follows: Alagün (1982), Güz Yağmurları (1998), Savaş İmparatorluğu (2004), Şeytan Sarmalı (2006), Küskün (2008), Sonsuz Uzun Ölüm (2008).

KÂMİL AYDOĞAN (1956-2018)

   He was born in Kertmen village of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his secondary and high school education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Ankara Gazi Education Faculty, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He worked as a teacher and administrator. He published his poems in various magazines.
   His works are as follows: Köy Yazıları (1982), Yük (1996), Hayat Kaç Köşeli (1999), Hayatın Şiire Sığmayan Yüzü (2004) ve Memur Sendikacılığında Yeni Yaklaşımlar.

KANDEMİR KOÇ (1952-)

   He was born in 1952 in Hacıömerli village of Göksun district. He completed his primary education in his village and his secondary education in Göksun High School. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy in 1979. He is still working as a philosophy teacher at Göksun İmam Hatip High School.
   He collected his poems in the work titled “Arayış” (1993).

MAHZÛNÎ (1943-2002)

   Contemporary artist and minstrel. He was born in 1943 in Tarlacık (Berçenek) village of Afşin district. His real name is Şerif, surname is Cırık. He is the son of Döndü Hanım and Zeynel Cırık.
   After completing primary school, he became interested in military service. He enrolled in Mersin Third Petty Officer Vocational School in 1956. He graduated from this school in 1959. He studied at Ankara Ordonat Technician School, after a short education, he worked as an intern in Ekreol Tepe in Sivas for 5 months. After a while, he cut off his relationship with the military. He was married and had eight children.
   He participated in the activities related to the establishment of the Minstrels' Association. He garnered attention with the concert he gave at the Büyük Sinema. He started playing saz and singing poetry in 1955-56. He apprenticed to Behlül Cırık. His poems were published in local newspapers. He recited poems to records and cassettes and gave concerts. After 1973, he worked in one of the casinos in Ankara Gençlik Parkı. The poet, whose name is mentioned frequently, influenced many artists. He was under prosecution and tried for his poems. He passed away on Friday, May 17, 2002. His grave is in the district of Hacı Bektaş.
   His poems have yet to be collected in a book. Some compilations and reviews have been made about the poet and his poetry. These are as follows:

MANSUR BALCI (1952)

   He was born on April 3, 1952 in Göksun. He is the son of Muhittin Balcı and Kebire Hanım. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from the Institute of Education at G.U. (1979). He works as a teacher in İzmir.
   His first poem, named Eylül, was published in the magazine Ayrım Şiir (1987). He continued to publish his works in the magazines such as Sonbahar, Bikem, Edebiyat ve Eleştiri, Berfin, Bahar, and Dilizi.

MEHMET AKİF BALTUTAN (1966-2011)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He took up business. He wrote. He published his writings at various magazines.
   He collected his poems in the book titled “Kan Kırmızı Geceler” (2000).

MEHMET AKİF GÜNERİ (1943)

   He was born in 1943 in Elbistan. He graduated from Kahramanmaraş High School (1962) and İstanbul Technical University (1967). In the same year, he started to work as a Petroleum Engineer at Turkish Petroleum Corporation. He served as engineer, manager, group chairman and Deputy General Manager (1994-99) in this organization. He is currently working as a General Manager consultant.
   He published his works concerning Türkiye's oil policy in the newspapers Cumhuriyet, Akşam, Dünya and Daily News. He published his non-professional works and poems in Çağrı, Tömer Dil Dergisi, Türk Dili, Kanat, Ana, Pencere magazines.

MEHMET AKİF KİREÇÇİ (1967)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1967. He completed his primary and secondary education in this city. He graduated from Ankara Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Arabic Language and Literature in 1988. He works as a research assistant at a university.
   He published his poems in magazines İkindi Yazıları, Mavera, Dergah, Kayıtlar, Albatros, and Yönelişler

MEHMET ALPEREN (1956)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his education, which he left halfway through when he was a secondary school student, later on.
   His essay type articles were published in local newspapers. He worked as a TV executive and published newspapers and magazines. He wrote novels.

MEHMET DELİGÖNÜL (1923)

   His a poet of the Republican Era. He was born in 1923 in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş and Adana. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Turkish Language and Literature in 1948.
   He was appointed as a literature teacher at Maraş High School. He published a magazine named “Ardıç” for high school. After working as a literature teacher at Kastamonu High School, he was appointed to the Yozgat High School Directorate. In 1957, he started his duty as the Rapporteur of the Ministry of National Education, Board of Education and Discipline. After 1958, he worked as a Higher Education Branch Director, Inspector, and a member of the Board of Education and Discipline.
   He collected his poems in the work titled “Yalnız” (İstanbul 1945).

M. HANEFİ SARIYILDIZ (1931-2008)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1931. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Agriculture. He worked as an agricultural engineer in Ankara, Konya, Diyarbakır and Amasya. He worked as a deputy director and director in these cities. In 1974, he was appointed to Kahramanmaraş as the Director of Land Settlement. He retired in October 1994 as a result of the bypass surgery he had while he was working as the Kahramanmaraş Village Services Provincial Directorate. He resides in Kahramanmaraş.
   The poet, who publishes his works in local newspapers uses the presudonym “Dost Ozan”.

MEHMET DOĞAN (1949)

   He was born in the Village of Güblüce in Elbisyan in 1949.. He is the son of Nakşiye Hanım and Forest Protection Officer Tahir Mehmet Doğan.
He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Elbistan. He graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature in 1971. He was appointed to Antakya High School as a literature teacher in 1971. In 1973, he was transferred to Elbistan Mükrimin Halil High School as a literature teacher. In 1975, he did his short-term military service as a gunner in Bornova, İzmir. He taught Western Literature courses at Eskişehir Education Institute between 1976-1978. In 1979, when the political turmoil was experienced, he was appointed to Ankara-Beypazarı High School as a literature teacher. He worked as a literature teacher at Eskişehir Anatolian High School in 1980. After September 12, 1980, he resigned from the civil service of his own accord and left.
   He was engaged in trade for a short time in Eskişehir. It ended in failure. After working as the editor-in-chief and writer for Eskişehir Gazetesi for one year, he returned to teaching at a private school in Adana. He came to İstanbul in 1983 and started teaching at a private school. He left here in 1986. He started working in a private tutoring school that prepares high school students for university. In 1991, he made an Anatolian documentary called "Bizim İller" for a private television. He has been teaching Turkish Language at Private Fatih University since 1998.
   He wrote essays in Yeni Devir gazetesinde (1976), Mavera, Yönelişler, Sızıntı, Yağmur magazines. He used pen names Mehmet Tahiroğlu, M. Garip.

   He was born on February 4, 1955 in Kahramanmaraş. He is the son of Emine Hanım and Halil Kılıç and the son-in-law of Bahaettin Karakoç. After his primary and secondary education, he graduated from Ankara Education Institute.
   He worked as a classroom teacher in public schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. He retired on October 15, 2004.
   His poems and essays were published in the Memleket newspaper, in the magazines Hasat and Kahramanmaraş.

MEHMET GEMCİ (1966-2019)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Maraş. He graduated from the Open Education Faculty, Department of Economics. He worked in a public institution.
   His first poems were published on the art pages of local newspapers. He edited the literature pages in Işık newspaper. He published the magazine Yalnızardıç
   He spent four years in Werdohl, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, as part of his assignment.
   He has a poetry book titled “Yanlış Parantez” (2005).

MEHMET NARLI (1963)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He completed his higher education in 19 Mayıs University, Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
   He wrote a master's thesis on Bahattin Karakoç and a doctoral thesis on Orhan Kemal's novels. After working at Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University for a while, he was transferred to Balıkesir University as an associate professor.

   He collected his poems in the books “Güz Çiçeği” (1992), “Berivan” (1998) and “Acı Deniz”.

MELİHA KAR

   She was born on August 15, 1959 in Elbistan. She is the daughter of Emine Hanım and tradesman Ali Kar. He studied primary and secondary school in Elbistan. She graduated from Kahramanmaraş Girls' Vocational High School Child Development and Education (1977-78). She dropped out her education at the 2nd year of the Open Education Faculty of Economics (2001).
   She worked for Foster Wheeler, an American Company, at Afşin Elbistan Power Plant. For a while, she taught at a pre-school college. She retired in October 2003.
   She is the editor-in-chief of Maki magazine, the publication organ of Mersin Poets and Writers Association (MEŞYAD).
   Her first poem was published in Mersin Haber newspaper (22 June 1992, Issue 133). Her poems were published in the newspapers Yeni Adana, Elbistan'ın Sesi, Ak Kahve, and in the magazines Maki, Dikili, Aykırı Sanat and Yeni Ufuk.
   She is married and has two children.

MEVLÂNA İDRİS ZENGİN (1966)

   He was born in the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in Andırın, secondary school and high school in Maraş. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law.
   He published his poems in various magazines. He received many awards. He has written mostly for children.

MEVLÜT OZAN (1965)

   He was born in the Çağlayancerit district of Kahramanmaraş. He started writing poetry from his secondary school years. As a child of a poor family, he could not continue his education. He went abroad as a worker.
   He collected his poems in the work “Sevda Yağmuru” (1999).

M. NAFİZ KARAKOÇ (1941)

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He is a member of a family full of poets. He completed secondary school and high school in Elbistan. He served as an officer. He has retired.
   He collected his poems in the book titled “Dağlar Yol Vermez ki Dosta Gideyim” (2004).

MURAT AYKAÇ ERGİNÖZ (1944)

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He studied primary and secondary school in Elbistan. He started his high school education in Maraş and completed it in Tokat. He graduated from the Department of French Language and Literature at the University of Geneva and the Faculty of Architecture at Istanbul Technical University. He worked as a freelance architect in Paris. After returning home, he worked as a consultant at the Ministry of Culture. He went to USA and did research on screenplay technique.
   He translated many works from Turkish to French and translated many works from French to Turkish as well.
He was awarded the "Legion d'Honneur" by the President of France, François Mitterrand, for his translations from French. He also received the French Language Development Award. He received the Academic Palm Novel Award of the French Ministry of Culture for his novel Those in Power. His novels and screenplays were filmed by TRT. He received the Ministry of Culture State Theaters Best Play Award in 1987 with his work titled Crown and Throne.

MUSTAFA AYDOĞAN (1964)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Gazi University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration. He started writing poetry at a young age. He wrote in various magazines.
   His works are as follows: “Kendini Aynalarda Çoğaltan Şehir” (1997), “Bir Dolu Bakır Yaz” (1999), “Bahar Köpüğü” (2004).

MUSTAFA OKUMUŞ (1932)

   He was born in Beyoğlu town of Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in his village and his secondary education in Düziçi Village Institute. He graduated from Gazi Education Institute, Department of Literature. He worked as a teacher. He worked as an administrator. He has retired.
   He produced a wide variety of literary works. He published his works in many different magazines.
   He collected his poems in the books “Gönül Bahçesi” (1996) and “Uzaklara Özlem” (2007).

MUSTAFA PINARBAŞI (1968)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He attended the course to become a healthcare professional. He became a healthcare professional. He settled in Netherlands.
   His works are as follows: Orada Çiçeksin Sen” (1992), “Akşam İner Yağmura Tutunarak” (1997).

NECDET EKİCİ (1955)

   He was born in the Arıştaş village of Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Dörtyol, Hatay. He graduated from the Turkish department of Samsun Education Institute. He worked as a teacher.
   His stories, essays and studies were published in Türk Edebiyatı, Milli Kültür, Milli Eğitim, Töre, Türk Yurdu, Yeni Birlik, Konevi, Güneyde Kültür, Hasat, Güneysu, Kardelen magazines and Yeni Fikir and Türkiye newspapers.
   He won the second place in the Turkish Literature Foundation's Ömer Seyfettin Story Competition in 1995, and the first place in the Yeni Fikir newspaper's review competition on İslam and Youth.
   His works are as follows: Yüreğimi Sana Bıraktım (1988), Yüreğimdeki Cemre (1991), İdeoloji ve İnsan (1992), Gül Olacaksın (1997).

NECİP EVLİCE (1956)

   He was born in the Andırın district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in the district where he was born. He completed his secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from the Department of Librarianship of the Faculty of Language, History and Geography. He wrote in various magazines.
   His works are as follows: Batı Topu (1983), İkindi Tayfaları (1991).

NECİP FAZIL KISAKÜREK (1905-1983)

   He was the child of a family that went to Istanbul from Kahramanlaras and settled there. He was born in Istanbul. He studied at various schools. He could not finish any of the high schools he enrolled in, including the Naval School. He dropped out his education. He worked as a bank clerk and teacher. He taught at the university.
   He felt oats. He finally found his true place. He entered the press. He did what no one else could do in his press and writing life. He published Ağaç magazine and then the Büyük Doğu. He institutionalized it. He transformed it into a party. He created a school. In poetry, he became the greatest in the country. He developed theses of history. He expressed things about recent history that no one could talk about. He wrote about Abdülhamit. He wrote aboud Sultan Vahdettin. He even wrote about Menderes. He wrote a book about the religious oppressed of the last period. He also bore the brunt.
   He wrote the cause of language. He fought against the degeneration of the language. He wrote religious and mystical works. He was a complete intellectual. He presented ideas and theses on every subject. He explained and defended the national cause in every pen.
He was a storyteller. He was a novelist. He wrote scripts. He enchastend literary works. He published intellectual works.
   He did everything to make the Anatolian people have a say. He took the roads. He gave conferences. He was a man of hope and excitement. He went to the courts, went in jail, did not give up the cause. He was the owner of the "İdeolocya Örgüsü". That is he created a worldview. He examined subjects that no one could examine, and wrote as much as no one else could. The number of his works is more than a hundred.
   He passed away on May 25, 1983 in İstanbul.

NİHAT YÜCEL (1949)

   He was born in the Süleymanlı sub-district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from İ.T.İ.A. in Istanbul. He served as an officer. His poems have been published in various magazines. He published Öncüler magazine with a group of friends. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the magazine Alkış.

His only work is Utku Türküleri.

NUH ÖMER ÇETİNAY (1960)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Yıldız University, Faculty of Architecture.
   His poems were published in the magazines Adam Sanat, Çağdaş Türk Dili, Karşı, Varlık and Yazıt. He received the Akademi Kitabevi Poetry Honorable Mention Award in 1988 for his poem, Yüreği Kurşun Edem (Maraş Destanı).
   His works are as follows: Yüreği Kurşun Edem (1988), Kanrevanmaraş (1990)’dir.

NURİ PAKDİL (1934-2019)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in the city he was born in. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He was a lawyer. He worked in many jobs such as legal counsel in the state. He quit his jobs occasionally. He published. He retired.
   He wrote for local newspapers in the early period. He went to the big cities. He published the Edebiyat magazine. He created a style and was instrumental in raising a youth who wrote in his own style.
   He is a very prolific poet and writer. He has many works and translations. It is as if there is no genre or field he did not write.

OĞUZ PAKÖZ (1947)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He worked as a biochemist.
His first article was published in Kahraman Kent newspaper in 1976. His peoms and writings were published in various newspapers and magazines such as Aksu, Kahraman Kent, Yorum, Doğuş, Madalyalı Tek Şehir, Milad, Türk Yurdu and Alkış. He prepared culture and art programs for local radio and TV. He was involved in social activities. He managed organizations such as Türkocağı, Wrestling Specialization Club, Culture and Art House. He published the magazine "Alkış" at Kahramanmaraş Culture and Art House. In 1997, he received the Turkish Medical Association Behçet Aysan Narrative Encouragement Award.

His works are as follows: Kılgı (1998) and Var Varanın (2000).

OSMAN SARI (1946)

   He was born in Sarımollalı village of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in his village. He studied high school in Maraş İmam Hatip High School. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law. He completed his doctorate at the same university with his thesis titled “Business Inspection in Türkiye”. He worked as a Labor Inspector in the Ministry of Labor. He worked as a faculty member at Sakarya University.
   His first poems were published in Gonca magazine during his high school years. Later, he wrote in magazines such as Çıkış, Defne, Diriliş, İlim ve Sanat, Edebiyat and Mavera.
   His works are as follows: Bir Savaşçıdır Kalbim (1975), Aydınlar İhaneti (1991), Önden Giden Atlılar (1992) and Şiirler (1995).

ÖMER AKSAY (1961)

   He was born in 1961 in the Kuyucak District of Kahramanmaraş. He is the son of Ferdane Hanım and Abdülbaki Aksay, who is retired from the Chief Forest Inspectorate.
   He graduated from İstanbul/İcadiye Primary School (1971), İstanbul Paşakapısı Secondary School and High School, İstanbul Marmara University, Atatürk Education Faculty Painting Department (1986).
   He worked as a graphic designer, copywriter and art director in 9 different advertising agencies in İstanbul. He still works as a painting teacher in an Anatolian High School affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
   His first work, Burgaçlar, was published in the magazine Edebiyat.
   He wrote in magazines such as Edebiyat, Hece, Yedi İklim, Gergedan, Argos, İkindiyazıları, Kitap-lık, Yom, Kırklar, Atlılar, Derkenar, Merdivenşiir and Le Poete Travaille.
   He used the pen name Bilal Cerîr.

ÖMER ARSLAN (1970)

   He was born in the Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Afşin. He started his career as a civil servant in 1993.
   He started to write poetry at a young age. He has published his poems in various newspapers and magazines.
   His works are as follows: Tılsımlı Gözler (1990), Şerare ve Şule (2005).

ÖMER FARUK AYTEMİZ (1919)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He established the Aytemiz Radio laboratory in Ankara.
   His poems have been published in various magazines. He wrote a 5-volume technical book on radio and electricity.
   His works are as follows: Otuzbeş Damla (1955), Dal (1956), Hangi Rüzgar, Dönüşü Yok Bu Yolun, Sulusepkin and Topçu Çıkmazı.

ÖMER KAYA (1943)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Elbistan and high school education in Maraş. He graduated from Ankara Faculty of Theology. He was appointed as teacher. His first place of service is Denizli Çivril High School. After that, he worked in schools at different levels. He retired from Kahramanmaraş Primary School in 1996.
   He has traveled from village to village to research the folk culture of Maraş. He has done research in different fields. He was the chairman of the Association of Victims of the Massacre of Armenian Gangs during the First World War.
   His poetry, research and stories were published in various newspapers and magazines.
   His works are as follows: Acıpayam’ın Tatlı Verimi (I. RASİM ÖZDENÖREN (1940)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. Although he started primary school in Maraş, he completed secondary school in Tunceli, in Malatya, due to his father's duty. While he was studying in high school in Maraş, he wrote stories in local newspapers and the school magazine Hamle.
   His first stories were published in magazines such as Varlık, Akarsu, Türk Sanatı and Arayış.
   He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Economics Journalism Institute and Istanbul University Faculty of Law. During these years, he met Sezai Karakoç. This acquaintance was effective in shaping his art life and world of thought. He worked the State Planning Organization as an assistant specialist. He did his master's degree in America. Although he served as the Ministry Counselor of the Ministry of Culture for a while, he re-entered the SPO after his military service.
   He directed the art page of the Yeni Istiklal Newspaper.
He was a columnist with the signature of A.Gaffar Taşkın. He published his first book, Hastalar ve Işıklar, in 1967.
   His stories, A Polyphonic Death (1984) and the Dissolution (1973), made into TV movies. A Polyphonic Death won the Special Jury Prize at the International TV Film Competition held in Prague.
   Taking a break from the story for a while, he turned to prose, especially since 1983.
   He retired in 2005 while serving as the Secretary General of the SPO. He worked as a columnist for Yeni Şafak newspaper.

RECEP ŞÜKRÜ GÜNGÖR (1971)

    He was born in Kahramanaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown and graduated from Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Science and Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He worked as a teacher.
   His stories have been published in magazines such as Martı, Okuntu, Yalnızardıç, İnsan Saati, Destina, Sühan, Duyuş ve Düşünüş, Kuyudakikoro, İksir, Yedi İklim, Yitik Düşler, Eylül Öykü and Kaşgar. He compiled and enchastened works.
   His works are as follows: Yüreğimin Mevsimi (2001), Kuruluş / Kurtuluş (2002) Hüsn ile Aşk (2003), Adem ile Havva (2005) and Yas Ayini (2005).

REMZİ ÇAYIR (1959)

   He was born in the village of Abbaslar in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He enrolled in Ankara University Faculty of Science. He was arrested during his student years and spent 13 years in prison. His conviction expired in 1991. He worked as a system operator at the Middle East Technical University.
   He wrote stories and novels while in prison. His stories were published in magazines such as Türk Edebiyatı, Bizim Ocak, Aylık Dergi, Mavera, Vahdet, Birliğe Çağrı, Gözyaşı and Dolunay, and in the Gündüz newspaper.
   His works are as follows: Koğuş Türkiye Koğuş Dünya (1986), Onlar Diridirler (1987), Zerafet’in Fal Çiçekleri (1988), Kelepçemin Türküsü (1989), En Büyük Silah Barabellum, Zibilde Papatya Açtı (1990) and Medeniyetinizden İstifa Ediyorum (1995).

RIDVAN BAĞRIAÇIK (1930-2009)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in Maraş and secondary education in Malatya. He graduated from Gazi Education Institute and worked as a teacher. He retired in 1979.
   His poems have been published in various magazines.
   His works are as follows: Modern Koşmalar ve Çocuk Şiirleri, Hac Yolunda Gördüklerimiz (2000) and Kabe Yolunda (2001).

SEMA SABUNCU (1973)

   She was born in Kahramanmaraş in 1973. She is the daughter of Enver Sabuncu and Şükran Sabuncu. She completed his primary and secondary education in Döryol. She graduated from Tokat/Zile Gazi Osmanpaşa University Construction High School (1997).
   She published poems and stories in the journals of Türk Edebiyatı, Güneysu, Genç Kardelen, Hizmet and gök çekimi.
   She collected his poems in the work titled Yüreğimin Şehri (1998).

SERDAR YAKAR (1965)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration.
   His first story was published in Erciyes magazine.
   His writings were published in magazines and newspapers such as Milli Gazete, İslam, İlim ve Sanat, Altınoluk, Sur, Mavera, Uzunoluk, Kurtuluş, Dört Mevsim Maraş, Alkış, Yorum, Kahramanmaraş’ın Sesi, Buğün, Manşet, Cesur Haber, Ukde Haber and Kimlik.
   He started to work as a civil servant in Kahramanmaraş Municipality in 1992. He served as the Municipal Private Secretary for a while. He continued his duty as the editor in chief, which he was appointed in 1993, for 12 years. At the same time, he was the branch chairman of the Union of Municipal Officials (BEM-BİR-SEN).
   He published the weekly "Ukde Haber" newspaper and the "Kurtuluş" magazine within the body of Ukde Press Publishing and Organization, which he founded with a group of friends. He was a book publisher. He organized weekly "UUkde Sanat Edebiyat" programs on local broadcasting Yunus TV.
   Yüksel received his undergraduate degree from Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University Social Sciences Institute. He received the title of "Public Administration Specialist" with his study titled "Alternative Service Delivery Methods in Local Governments: The Example of Kahramanmaraş Municipality".
   He was appointed as the founding director of the Municipality Culture and Social Affairs Directorate in 2005. He also served as the Municipal Terminal Manager for a while.
   He worked as an expert in judicial cases related to municipality in Kahramanmaraş local courts.

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Pedagogy. He became a teacher. He worked as an administrator. He is one of the first representatives of modern poetry in Maraş. He published magazine. He wrote in different magazines.
   His works are as follows: Doğrulup Yeniden (1990), Kırmızı Papatyalar (1998) and Bir Pancur Aç (2003).

SIDDIK ÖZER (1947)

   He was born in the Ekinözü district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed primary school in Ekinözü and secondary school in Elbistan. He graduated from Akçadağ Teachers' School and worked as a teacher. He retired in 1995.
   He started writing poetry during his high school years. He wrote poems in accordance with the folk poetry tradition. His poems have been published in various magazines and newspapers such as Elbistan’ın Sesi, Yeşil Afşin, Pazarcık, Kahramanmaraş, Aksu, Ortadoğu, Türkiye, Madalyalı Şehir, Yeni Hasat, Dava, Uzunoluk, Öğretmen Dergisi, Tepe Edebiyat and Türk Edebiyatı.
His only work is Vuslat (1997).

ŞEREF TURHAN (1937-1999)

   He was born in Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary and secondary education in Maraş. He graduated from Ankara Conservatory State Theater Children's Department.
   He worked at the State Theatre. He worked as a reporter in Yeni Sabah, Yeni İstiklal newspapers. Returning to his hometown, he worked as a journalist. He established a printing press. He took out Işık newspaper. He won the first place in the Turkish Language branch eight times in the Anatolian Press Encouragement Competitions of the General Directorate of Press and Information.
   His poems, essays and stories have been published in art literary magazines such as Varlık, Pazar Postası, Dost, Yeditepe, Türk Dili, Çağrı and Türk Sanatı.
   He was the provincial representative of TRT Kahramanmaraş. He took part in local TV.
   His works are as follows: Maraş’lı Şairler Antolojisi (1960) and Bildiri (1960).

ŞEVKET BULUT (1938-1996)

   He was born in Kilis. He came to Maraş for the sake of a friend after he completed his education. He got married in Maraş. He worked at the Directorate of National Education and Public Works in Maraş. He retired. He settled in Maraş completely. He did freelance work. He became one of the people of Maraş. He passed away in Maraş in 1996.
   He started to write stories later. At first he wrote some very beautiful, wonderfully excellent koşma (a type of folk poetry). His first book, “Gönül Defteri”, is a poetry book. He has many poems published in newspapers and magazines that are not included in this book.

ŞEVKET YÜCEL (1930-2001)

   He was born in the Süleymanlı sub-district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary education in his village. He graduated from Diyarbakır Dicle Village Institute and Gazi Education Institute, Department of Literature. He served as a teacher. He worked as an administrator for a while. He retired in 1981.
   He produced works in different genres such as poetry, stories and essays. His first poem was published in the newspaper Demokrasiye Hizmet in 1956.
   Later, he wrote in many art and literature magazines such as Varlık, Türk Dili, Hisar, Edebiyat Dergisi, Ilgaz, İmece, Güney, Meltem, Edebiyat Cephesi, Hakimiyet Sanat, Ozanca, Oluşum, Sesimiz, Yeditepe, Yaba, Ekin, Kıyı, Şiir-Öykü, Damar, Çağdaş Türk Dili, YANSIMA, Abece, Söylem, İnsancıl, Kiraz, Karşı, Öğretmen Dünyası and Alkış.
   He won the TRT Essay Achievement Award in 1970. He passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2001.

TAHSİN YÜCEL (1933-2016)

   He was born in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He attended primary school in Elbistan and high school as a boarding student at Galatasaray High School. He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of French Language and Literature. He worked in the same department as an assistant. He completed his doctorate and became a professor in 1978. He retired in 2000.
   His stories have been published in magazines such as Varlık, Seçilmiş Hikâyeler, Yeryüzü, Beraber, and May. He translated nearly eighty books from French literature. He received the Sait Faik Story Award in 1956, the Turkish Language Association Short Story Award in 1959, the Azra Ferhat Translation Award in 1984, the Orhan Kemal Novel Award in 1993, the Sedat Simavi Award in 1999, and the Yunus Nadi Novel Award in 2003.

TAYYİP ATMACA (1962)

   He was born in the Topaktaş village of Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from Osmaniye Commercial Vocational High School. He wrote poetry, essays and stories. His works have been published in art and literature magazines such as Güneysu, Dolunay, Mina, Tepe Edebiyat, Karçiçeği, Âvâz, Çınar, Erciyes, and Millî Eğitim. He was the editor-in-chief of Güneysu magazine.
   His works are as follows: Hüzünlerin Düğünü (1980), Külüngün Taşlara Çizdiği Nakış (1993), Sarı Kitap (1997), Med Cezir Vakitleri, Susarak Konuşsan Gözüm Dinlese, Bende Yanan Türkü Sende Sönüyor, Gece Vardiyası and Düş Defteri.

YUSUF KAPTAN (1956)

   He was born in the Akçaşar village of Afşin district on October 4, 1956. He attended primary school in his village and secondary school in Afşin. He graduated from Konya Akşehir Teachers' School and Anodolu University Open Education Faculty associate degree program. He has worked as a classroom teacher in Afşin, Genç, Kozan and Yüreğir since 1978. He is still working in Seyhan.
   He published his works in the Çukurova newspaper, and in the magazines Söylem and Maki.
   He collected his poems in the work titled Vardiya Mevsimleri (1996).

YASİN MORTAŞ (1967)

   He was born in the Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş. After primary and secondary education, he graduated from Health Vocational High School and Anadolu University Open Education Faculty, Department of Business Administration. He worked as a health officer.
   His poems have been published in art and literature magazines such as Kırağı, Dolunay, İnsan Saati, Yalnız Ardıç, Güneysu, Bengisu, Genç Kalemşörler, and Şardağı.
   He collected his poems in the book titled “Güvercin Vadisi” (1997).

YÜKSEL KANAR (1953)

   He was born in the village of Çiçek in the Elbistan district of Kahramanmaraş. He completed his primary school in his village and his secondary education in Diyarbakır İmam-Hatip High School. He graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy. He did his master's in the same department. While working as an imam-hatip, he took office in Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 1995.
   He started to write in his high school years, and his stories and articles were published in Tek Yol, Düşünce, Yönelişler, Türk Edebiyatı, Altınoluk, Diriliş, Yedi İklim magazines and Yeni Devir and Milliyet newspapers.
