A promotion and commemoration event was held in Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş for Aşık Yener, whose poems were composed by various artists.

Aşık Yener promotion and commemoration program was held within the scope of "Project City Afşin" events at Afşin Eshab-ı Kehf Anatolian High School. Speaking at the event, Afşin Eshab-ı Kehf Anatolian High School Principal Fevzi Kılınç stated that Afşin has a very rich background in terms of minstrel and poetic culture. Kılınç said that although there are many important and well-known works by minstrels such as Aşık Mahzuni Şerif, Hayati Vasfi Taşyürek and Aşık Yener, onlu Aşık Mahzuni has gained a great reputation. Stating that Aşık Yener is not recognized as he deserves, Kılınç pointed out that they are preparing a project to promote Aşık Yener under the auspices of Afşin District Governorship.

Many poets and minstrels from the Afşin Ozanlar Derneği participated in the event and sang folk songs by Aşık Yener.
