It was reported that in the 16th Traditional Story and Poetry Contests organized by Ümraniye Municipality under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the poet-author and photographer Yasin Mortaş from Kahramanmaraş won the first place in Türkiye in the poetry category. After the jury evaluations, Mortaş was declared the champion of the 16th Traditional Poetry Contest with "free" topic.

In his statement, Yasin Mortaş stated that the contest, which had participants from all over Türkiye, has become a brand in the world of art and literature. Thanking Ümraniye Municipality for the contest, Mortaş said, “I wanted to participate with a poem in which I tried to explain our bleeding wounds. It is a particular honor and meaning to bring this award to Kahramanmaraş, the capital city of poetry. Distinguished members of the jury found my poem "Kan Çerağı" worthy of the first prize and favored me, thank you, he said.
