“Kutadgu Bilig” Conference at KSU

Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University (KSU) Seven Colors Student Community, Blue Crescent Youth and Culture Student Community and Public Administration Student Community colaboratively organized a panel on "The Importance of Kutadgu Bilig" in the 950th anniversary.

The opening speech of the conference held at KSU Cahit Zarifoğlu Conference Hall was delivered by Rector Prof. Dr. Niyazi Can. Stating that they care about and support the activities carried out by the student communities, Rector Can emphasized that such activities, which strengthen the entrepreneurship and leadership aspects of the students and develop the culture of collaboration, are at least as necessary as the lessons. Rector Can thanked everyone who contributed to the event, wishing that the panel on Kutadgu Bilig, one of the most important works of our civilization, would be useful.

Seven Colors Student Community Academic Advisor Dr. Faculty Member Mustafa Baylan made a short greeting speech and expressed his gratitude to the people who contributed to the panel.

After the opening speeches, the panel session chaired by KSU Faculty of Theology Dr. Faculty Member Alimcan Buğda was started. Dr. Faculty Member Buğda said that the 950th anniversary of the writing of Kutadgu Bilig by Yusuf Has Hacib has been included in the 2019 UNESCO Commemoration and Celebration of Anniversaries Program.

Taking the first floor in the panel, KSU Faculty of Science and Letters Turkish Language and Literature Department Dr. Faculty Member Sadi Gedik gave information about the importance of Kutadgu Bilig in terms of language and literature. Stating that Kutadgu Bilig is the first Turkish work written by the Turks within Turkish-Islamic Civilization, Gedik stated that the work, written in Karahanlı period Turkish, also reflects the characteristics of Uygur and Göktürk Turkish.

KSU Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Head of Public Administration Department Prof. Dr. İbrahim Ethem Taş provided information about the management approach in Kutadgu Bilig and his evaluations on the subject with the attendants.

The program ended with a plaque presentation after the panelists answered the questions of the attendants.
